To say I was scared to go to Push would be an understatement. I had checked out the website and figured it was just for folks who were already fit or were athletes who wanted to get to the ‘next level.’ At the time, my level of physical activity was nil…but they had moved in one block from my home and I had made one of those pesky New Year’s resolutions to start paying some attention to my physical health. I was over 40 years old, a smoker, and had basically done nothing active since high school sports finished 20 some odd years earlier and had been eating whatever was handy and delicious for a long long time.
From the moment I walked into PUSH I was made to feel welcome. Not once was I made to feel badly for my years of poor decision-making; they met me exactly where I was. The fact that things were tailored specifically to me allowed me to feel good about going and to keep going.
I can say without exaggeration that walking in their door was one of the best decisions of my adult life. I would encourage anyone who is a bit intimidated by the thought of going to the gym to give PUSH a try. You will be in very good hands.
