Group Fitness Halifax: Throwback Group Class was a Hit!

Thanks to everyone who showed up for our awesome throwback group fitness class at King’s gym! We had an amazing turnout, a ton of fun, and celebrated two of our long-time members retiring.

For anyone who missed it, here’s a recap of our workout and some snaps from the event:

Group Fitness Class Workout:

Grab a partner and decide who will be partner 1 and who will be partner 2

This class follows an “I go – I go” format – you’re always doing something. You and your partner trade off between running lengths of the gym and completing an exercise (except for round 3). For example, partner 1 starts on squats while partner 2 runs four lengths, then they switch and partner 2 will squat and partner 1 will run; when partner 1 returns, they move onto pushups while partner 2 runs and you continue from there.

Round 1: Run 4 lengths of the gym

Exercises (8 exercises, *the last 3 have NO running in between)

  • Squats
  • Pushups
  • Reverse lunge
  • Plank leg raise
  • Skipping
  • *Partner band row 20 total
  • *Lateral jumps (over your partner) 10 total
  • *Resisted run (2 lengths of the gym)

Round 2: 6 lengths of the gym

Exercises (8 exercises, *the last 3 have NO running in between)

  • Squats
  • Pushups
  • Reverse lunge
  • Plank leg raise
  • Skipping
  • *Partner band row 20 total
  • *Lateral jumps (over your partner) 10 total
  • *Resisted run (2 lengths of the gym)

Round 3: Partner 1 does everything in a row then partner 2 goes

  • Squats x 10
  • Run 2 lengths of the gym
  • Pushups x 10
  • Run 2 lengths of the gym
  • Reverse lunge x 5/5

FINISHED

As mentioned, we love the group fitness style workouts. We will definitely be doing another throwback workout at King’s in the not-to-distant future. It’s a great chance to get together while sweating it out! To newer members, we hope you had fun and got a chance to see that culture and energy that brought us to where we are now!

Thanks again for making us awesome!
