Kris Andrews, Trainer & Owner
Kris Andrews is the owner of PUSH Fitness & Performance Training, located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Kris has worked for over 20 years as an energetic force in the Fitness Industry with 10 years of experience working in Strength & Conditioning and Sports Performance Training. As a former high performance athlete himself, having spent 12 years as a competitive swimmer, Kris is a highly sought after coach for both personal training clients and athletes alike.
Under Kris’s leadership, the team at PUSH work with clients of all levels; from individuals pursuing personal fitness goals, Business Owners and Executives to Youth Sports, Varsity Athletes, Olympians and Professional Athletes. With an impressive following of clients, PUSH Fitness & Performance Training has established itself as the leading training facility in Atlantic Canada for people looking for results and to take their game to the next level.
Kris holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of New Brunswick (2000) and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength & Conditioning Association. Kris’s work has been featured in the media in The Globe & Mail as well as Canadian Running Magazine. In 2016, Kris received the Tiger Assist Award for outstanding contribution to Dalhousie Athletics.
Over the past ten years, Kris has worked extensively with Dalhousie Athletics as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for several teams, compiling 24 AUS Championships during that time: Men’s swimming (10), Women’s swimming (10), Women’s Volleyball (3), and Men’s basketball (1). In addition to his work with Dalhousie Athletics, Kris has worked with athletes at the National level in Soccer, Swimming, Track and Field and Hockey, with over 15 top picks in the QMHJL as well as two athletes playing professionally in the AHL and NHL.
Leanne Murphy, Trainer
Leanne graduated from Acadia University with a degree in Psychology, and during her final year, found a passion for running. That evolved to include strength training as well, and seeing the real value in knowing how to keep the body strong and healthy, she decided to pursue it in a more professional capacity.
Leanne is certified as a personal trainer with Canada Fitness Professionals, and in addition to attending their yearly conferences, has completed courses through Dalhousie to increase her knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Leanne has been working in the field for about 5 years, and was lucky to join the PUSH team last September!
Keishia Mills, Trainer & Head Team Trainer
Keishia fell in love with health and fitness at a young age; it began in the pool as an athlete and later as a coach. She has over 5 years experience coaching her local swim team and later the Halifax Special Olympic Swim Team and Masters Swim Team. She later pursued a competitive swimming career at the varsity level while studying for her BSc in Biology at Dalhousie University.
Her accomplished career as a breaststroker for the Dalhousie Tigers and Halifax Trojans led her to many National finals and to Canadian Olympic Trials in 2012 and 2016. While swimming with Dalhousie, she also began to assist Kris with the team’s strength and conditioning program and quickly realized coaching was one of her passions. She completed her level 1 certification with Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning and is now a Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC). She joined the Push Fitness team in October 2016. Keishia is ecstatic to be working with such great clientele while continuing to enhance her knowledge of personal training!
Leanne Wiese, Trainer
Leanne’s passion for physical activity started at a young age as a competitive swimmer, competing in provincial and national competitions across Canada, eventually landing in Halifax with the Dalhousie Varsity Swim Team. While training with the team she was inspired by Kris’ functionally focused strength training program.
After finishing her swimming career with the Tigers, Leanne turned to fitness to help others realize their passion for health and wellness. Leanne is now most passionate about making health and wellness opportunities more accessible to all as well as helping people move better through all stages of life. Originally an Ontarian, Leanne was first drawn to Halifax to complete her BSc in Health Promotion but stayed for the beautiful coast and the growing desire to make a positive impact on the health of Nova Scotians.
Leanne is Canadian Fitness Professionals certified, an Agatsu Kettlebell instructor and BARREEast certified fitness instructor. Always looking for ways to train smarter, Leanne has been working to improve her mobility and her favourite workout is a combination of kettlebell, TRX, calisthenics and yoga. In addition to competing in the sport of swimming all over Canada, Leanne grew up playing soccer, snowboarding, running cross-country, and still prefers to spend her free time outdoors on her SUP board, exploring, hiking and camping. Leanne is looking forward to gaining more experience and continuing to learn from Kris and the other trainers at PUSH.
